Here are three common things that cause damage to your AC system:

1) Fan Motor Problems
In order for your air conditioning to work properly and cool your home or business, the fan motor must be working at its most efficient level. When dust or dirt is built up inside the fan motor of your AC, this is a simple problem that will cause the fan motor to fail. Too much dirt or dust can cause so much damage that the bearings of the fan motor stop and even electrical wiring can become damaged.

2) Routine Air Filter Maintenance
One of the most common causes of air conditioning repair would be a clogged air filter. Repairs caused by this can be easily avoided with routine AC maintenance. When your air filter is clogged, it cannot keep large particles of dust, dirt or even insect parts from being sucked into the AC system. When this happens, the air flow throughout the entire AC system can be restricted and cause your AC to not operate properly.

3) Dirty Coils
When your air conditioning unit cools your home or business, it uses a large fan that will pull air from inside and pass it over a series of very cold coils. When these coils are damaged or covered in dust or dirt, this prevents the coils from functioning properly. Their ability to absorb the beat out of your air will be reduced, causing your air conditioning unit to work harder to make up for it not functioning right.

These are just 3 common ways that your Air Conditioning unit for your home or business can be affected. Keeping your AC unit properly maintained will prevent your cooling system from common damages such as the three listed above.
